Overview
Discover the "other side" of Cambodia’s bustling capital on our Phnom Penh Mekong Islands Biking Tour. While the city center thrives with modern energy, just across the mighty Mekong River lies a cluster of serene islands where time seems to have stood still for centuries. This full-day cycling expedition takes you into the heart of Koh Dach and Koh Oknha Tei, famously known as the "Silk Islands."
This is a journey of pure sensory immersion. From the moment you board the local wooden ferry to cross the river, you will feel the urban noise dissolve into the sounds of weaving looms and birdsong. We pedal along shaded dirt paths, through lush fruit orchards, and past traditional wooden stilt houses. You will witness the ancient art of Khmer silk weaving, where artisans transform raw silk into intricate masterpieces using techniques passed down through generations. Our route is carefully designed to show you the authentic rhythm of island life—visiting local schools, vibrant pagodas, and sprawling vegetable farms. This is the ultimate escape for those seeking an authentic, eco-friendly, and culturally rich perspective of Phnom Penh.

Tour Plan
The Morning Journey: Crossing to Tranquility
Your adventure begins at 08:00 AM with a professional guide picking you up from your hotel. We head to the riverbank and board a local ferry for a short but scenic crossing. As the city skyline recedes, you enter a world of emerald green. We mount our bikes and begin our 25-35km exploration on the flat, shaded trails of Koh Dach. The air is fresh, and the pace is relaxed, perfect for taking in the sights of grazing water buffalo and blooming lotus ponds.
The Artisan Heart: Silk & Community
We spend the mid-morning visiting various Silk Weaving Communities. You will hear the rhythmic "clack-clack" of the looms under almost every house. Our guide will translate as you meet the weavers, learning about the complex patterns and natural dyes used in their craft. We continue our ride to Koh Oknha Tei, crossing a small bridge to discover even quieter paths. We stop at a local pagoda to learn about Khmer Buddhism and the island’s unique history.
The Afternoon Rhythm: Farms & Orchards
After a delicious traditional Khmer lunch served in a shaded garden, we spend the afternoon cycling through the "fruit bowl" of the islands. We pedal past fields of ginger, lemongrass, and corn, stopping to chat with farmers and perhaps tasting a fresh coconut. The road condition is a mix of smooth dirt and quiet tarmac, making for a comfortable and joyous ride. We wrap up our island odyssey with a final ferry crossing as the afternoon sun casts a golden glow over the Mekong, arriving back at your hotel by 04:30 PM.
