This is another of our biking explorer routes across the Mekong River in the quiet district of Chomphet. Over there you will not see many, if any, other tourists and very little traffic. Enjoy a day discovering local village life and visiting the pottery village that used to make pottery for the Royal Family. Cross the Mekong River on the local ferry for final return to Luang Prabang.

Laos, Luang Prabang Local Village Biking Discovery 1 Day | Chomphet Offroad and Pottery Village
Tour Plan
1-day mountain biking (L)
Meet your guide early morning and we'll get you fitted and sorted on of our quality mountain bikes. Ride a short distance to the Mekong River where we'll board the local car ferry to cross the river to Chomphet District.
This is for beginner to medium riders and we will cover approx 17km biking on dirt roads and single tracks with some hills. You can observe the making of pottery vessels in a traditional style and see many different products.
We continue on single tracks towards a stream crossing. We may need to walk the bikes a small distance and in the river is the perfect opportunity to cool down if you feel like a splash in the water.
Enjoy beautiful views over endless green jungles on the way to a village for ice-cold drinks get in touch with Lao culture. your guide can explain many interesting things about Lao culture. Afterward enjoy a short ride on the tarmac, visiting a temple on the way to the ferry. We have lunch in a local restaurant near the ferry landing.
This tour can be a challenge for non-experienced mountain bikers and is rated as easy to medium. The route is mostly flat with a 200m elevation gain). Partly shady. Can be muddy after rain.
