Conquering Ma Phuc Pass: Our first major challenge of the day is the legendary Ma Phuc Pass (Pass of the Kneeling Horse). On average, our high-capacity lithium-ion batteries can cover between 60 to 90 kilometers on a single charge, depending on the level of pedal assistance you use (Eco, Tour, or Sport) and the steepness of the terrain. Since our average daily tour distance ranges from 35 to 60 kilometers, you will have plenty of battery power to spare. Our support vehicle also carries spare, fully charged batteries just in case.
We highly recommend packing lightweight, breathable athletic clothing (moisture-wicking), a windproof and waterproof jacket, sturdy closed-toe shoes (running shoes or light trail shoes are perfect), sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera. While it is technically possible to rent bikes in Cao Bang City, we strongly advise against self-guided rides.
