Overview
Rajasthan Cycling Tour with Pushkar Camel Fair
Cycle across Rajasthan's diverse landscapes to witness the lively and unparalleled festivities of the Pushkar Camel Fair. This 17-day cycling adventure takes you beyond the usual, combining rural landscapes, ancient forts, vibrant towns, and timeless traditions with an immersive festival experience.
Timed to coincide with the legendary Pushkar Camel Fair, this tour brings you into the heart of an event where thousands of camels, traders, folk musicians, dancers, and mystics gather in the sacred town of Pushkar. The desert comes alive with colour and chaos — a swirling celebration of Rajasthan’s deep-rooted culture and nomadic heritage. From livestock parades to traditional competitions and spiritual rituals at the holy lake, it’s a festival that captures the spirit of India like no other.
While the Diwali festival may also overlap during this journey, it serves as a charming backdrop — a few nights were villages glow with clay lamps and fireworks. It adds a festive sparkle, but the real focus is the road ahead and the fair that awaits.
Beyond a mere Rajasthan cycling tour, this journey offers a deep dive into the cultural essence of Rajasthan. Rajasthan, the 'land of royals’, unfolds through desert trails, Aravalli hills, and centuries-old towns. You'll meet warm-hearted locals, explore majestic forts, and discover the everyday rhythm of rural India — all from the saddle of your bike.
We begin in Delhi with a full day of sightseeing. Discover India’s capital through its Mughal monuments and colonial buildings. Then we fly to Udaipur, the city of lakes, to begin our ride. We start with local cycling around the lakes and palaces, easing you into Rajasthan’s rhythm. Next, we head for Kumbhalgarh Fort, which sits high in the Aravalli hills. The ride is challenging but worth every pedal. From there, we go deeper into rural Rajasthan, through Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur, Korta, Beda, Bhenswara, and Pushkar to meet locals and experience village life firsthand.
Each stop on this journey offers something unique. In Udaipur, we’ll explore the beautiful city nestled around scenic lakes. We'll enjoy a delightful dinner at a restaurant located on the banks of the lake, offering stunning views. We’ll also cycle approximately 40 km through the peaceful countryside surrounding Udaipur, experiencing rural life up close. From there, we head deeper into the rural heart of Rajasthan. Our next ride takes us to Kumbhalgarh, where we’ll visit the majestic Kumbhalgarh Fort, home to the second-longest continuous wall in the world—often referred to as the "Great Wall of India"—stretching over 38 km. Our journey continues to Ranakpur, where we’ll explore the awe-inspiring Jain temple, renowned for its exquisite marble carvings and tranquil atmosphere. In Beda and Bhenswara, we’ll have the opportunity to connect with the local culture—meeting camel herders, farmers, and traditional folk artists, offering a true glimpse into the rural life of Rajasthan.
This section of the tour is where Rajasthan reveals its soul. As you cycle past dry riverbeds and quiet fields, children wave from doorways and elders invite you for tea. It’s slow travel in its purest form. After exploring the villages, we roll into Jodhpur, the vibrant Blue City of Rajasthan. Here, we’ll take a day tour to explore the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India, offering panoramic views of the city. We'll also visit the serene Jaswant Thada, a beautiful marble cenotaph, and wander through the bustling local markets, rich with colors, spices, and handicrafts. As you wander Jodhpur's labyrinthine alleys, you’ll discover the famous blue-painted homes that have earned the city its nickname—offering a vibrant scene full of charm and perfect for photography enthusiasts.
We now enter one of the most vibrant and culturally rich segments of our Rajasthan cycling tour—the iconic Pushkar Camel Fair.
After exploring Jodhpur, we ride towards Pushkar, a sacred town nestled around a tranquil lake. Here, we’ll witness the world-famous Pushkar Camel Fair, one of Rajasthan’s most spectacular and colorful festivals. This annual event draws thousands of traders, pilgrims, performers, and travelers from around the world. The fair is a mesmerizing blend of tradition and celebration—where camels are decorated, raced, and traded, while folk music, dance, and local rituals fill the air with energy. It's a photographer's paradise and a rare opportunity to experience Rajasthan’s rural life, spiritual depth, and festive spirit all in one place.
After experiencing the vibrant Pushkar Camel Fair, we’ll proceed to Jaipur, the Pink City and a true powerhouse of Rajasthani culture. Jaipur is renowned for its grand palaces, imposing forts, and bustling markets filled with handicrafts, textiles, and jewels. From the majestic Amber Fort to the elegant City Palace and the iconic Hawa Mahal(Wind Palace), Jaipur offers a rich blend of royal history and colourful street life that perfectly captures the spirit of Rajasthan.
To balance the cultural energy, we head to Ranthambore National Park for a change of pace. This famous tiger reserve is home to leopards, deer, and hundreds of birds. On a guided jeep safari, you may spot the majestic Bengal Tiger in the wild. It’s thrilling, raw, and unforgettable. The tour ends in Uttar Pradesh, where we visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal. This marble wonder, a symbol of eternal love, is the perfect finale to your journey. Whether seen at sunrise or sunset, its beauty lingers in your memory long after.
