Overview
Pedal Through Paradise: A Tropical Odyssey in God’s Own Country
Welcome to Kerala, a slender strip of land on India's tropical southwest coast, affectionately known as "God's Own Country." Our 13-Day Kerala Cycling Tour offers a dramatic contrast to the arid landscapes of the North. Here, the world is painted in a thousand shades of green. This tour is a sensory awakening, designed for the traveler who wants to breathe in the scent of fresh cardamom, feel the cool mist of the high mountains, and unwind to the gentle rhythm of the backwaters—all from the saddle of a bicycle.
Your journey begins in the historic port city of Fort Kochi, a melting pot of cultures where Chinese fishing nets silhouette against the setting sun and colonial architecture tells tales of the spice trade. From the coast, we begin our ascent into the majestic Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world's hottest biodiversity hotspots. The climb is challenging but rewarding, taking you through dense rainforests and rubber plantations before opening up to the endless, manicured carpets of tea in Munnar.
As we pedal higher into the clouds, the air turns crisp. We ride through the Cardamom Hills towards Thekkady (Periyar), where the aroma of cloves, nutmeg, and pepper hangs heavy in the air. Here, we trade our bikes for a boat safari to spot wild elephants and perhaps the elusive tiger at the water's edge. The route then offers thrilling descents, winding down through coffee estates and pineapple farms, bringing us closer to sea level.
No trip to Kerala is complete without the iconic Backwaters. You will abandon the pedals for a day to board a traditional Houseboat (Kettuvallam). Drifting through the palm-fringed canals of Alleppey while enjoying a traditional Keralan lunch on a banana leaf is an experience of pure tranquility.
The tour concludes with well-deserved relaxation on the white sands of Marari Beach. Throughout this 13-day adventure, you will stay in charming nature resorts, plantation bungalows, and eco-lodges that reflect the harmony of the region. With fresh seafood, coconut-infused cuisine, and the warm smiles of the locals, this cycling tour is the perfect blend of physical activity and tropical relaxation.
