Overview
Experience Kerala’s Stunning Coastline and Backwaters on a Unique Cycling Adventure
Our Kerala backwater and houseboat cycling holiday is exclusively designed for those who want to delve into the captivating charm of Kerala’s coastal landscapes, houseboats, and pristine beaches. The entire experience occurs in under a week. This tour perfectly balances relaxation and adventure, making it ideal for both seasoned cyclists and those looking for a more leisurely-paced journey.
Cycling through Kerala’s coastal region is easy on the legs, yet brimming with unforgettable moments, chance encounters, and cultural discoveries that transform this five-day trip into a deeply enriching experience. From the historic streets of Fort Kochi to the sun-kissed shores of Marari Beach and the tranquil backwaters of Alleppey, each day unfolds a new layer of Kerala’s rich heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. By the end of this cycling tour, you’ll find yourself wishing for just a few more days to soak in the magic of Kerala, South India.
Starting in Fort Kochi, you’ll be transported back in time. You’ll be cycling through a town steeped in colonial history. With its mix of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences, Fort Kochi offers a fascinating glimpse into Kerala’s multicultural past. As you pedal through narrow streets flanked by colonial architecture, the aroma of fresh seafood and the sight of the famous Chinese fishing nets along the seafront will set the tone for the days to come. The journey only gets more scenic as you ride along the coastline, where the deep blue Arabian Sea stretches on one side and lush, green fishing villages with their coconut groves and paddy fields line the other. The cycling route has been carefully designed to immerse you in local life. You’ll visit an ancient 5th-century church, witness the graceful classical dances of Kerala, and cruise through the narrow backwater canals of Kumarakom in a traditional canoe, giving you an intimate look at Kerala’s unique waterways.
While the Kerala backwater houseboat cycling tour spans five days, you won’t feel rushed. One evening is dedicated to unwinding at the serene Marari Beach, where the gentle sea breeze and soft sands offer the perfect setting for relaxation. Another highlight is the overnight stay on a luxurious houseboat in Alleppey, where you can indulge in freshly caught seafood while drifting along Kerala’s iconic backwaters, surrounded by towering palms and verdant landscapes. This is Kerala at its most tranquil. Our Kerala cycling holiday may be short and snappy, but it’s packed with diverse experiences. You can experience lively local markets, peaceful countryside, ancient heritage, and modern-day village life. This cycling tour is a wholesome journey through the very heart of Kerala, leaving you with cherished memories of God’s Own Country.
