Overview

A special experience riding from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. We ride on small back roads with little traffic and some short off-road sections. The terrain is undulating with no major climbs. The trip is fully supported, including a bus. Your guide’s expert knowledge of the area and terrain means that you always know what is coming up in terms of distance and difficulty. This tour is suitable for riders with some off-road biking experience. There are some small hills, but these can be tackled by anyone with even a moderate amount of fitness. The emphasis on this tour is Thailand’s scenery off the beaten track. You will see waterfalls, lakes and dams around Mae Taeng, then onward to Chiang Dao for its caves. Along the road stops at Akha, Lisu and Palaung hill tribe villages. We will visit Fang, ride along the Kok River onto Tha Ton and take a longtail boat to end up in Chiang Rai for a visit to the Hot Springs and the famous White temple. What an adventure!

Expand All

We pick you up at the hotel and travel by car to Bua Thong waterfall with its dramatic white limestone cliffs where your bikes are waiting for you. Bua Thong waterfall is called Sticky waterfall by the local people. The water is very calcium-rich and this makes the rocks are almost creamy white. From here the tour takes you through villages where time seems to have stood still. You will see farmers working in rice paddies and there is a stop at a local school. We will ride through the pretty and pristine natural environments of the Si Lanna National Park towards Mae Ngat Dam, a hydroelectric dam which impounds the Mae Ngat River. Here we take a long tail boat which takes us to the center of the giant lake where we can swim. We will continue to a resort in the nature for overnight and dinner.  Distance today 29 kilometers.
