Overview

Close your eyes for a moment and listen. What do you hear? It is the crisp, mechanical tick-tick-tick of your Shimano derailleur guiding your chain smoothly across the cassette as you conquer another red dirt trail. It is the crunch of dry leaves under your high-traction mountain bike tires as you roll deep into the shaded embrace of a thousand-year-old jungle. Breathe in. The air is alive with the sweet, caramelized scent of wild palm sugar boiling over open wood fires in remote stilt villages, transitioning into the rich, damp perfume of moss-covered sandstone ruins, and the clean, earthy aroma of dry-deciduous northern forests. This is not a holiday viewed behind the tinted glass of a tour bus. This is the Cambodia Biking The Historical and Ancient Capitals Tour 11 Days—a deeply immersive, sensory-rich active odyssey meticulously engineered for those who want to feel the earth beneath their wheels, challenge their physical limits, and connect with the raw, beating heart of Cambodia’s ancient civilizations.

Over eleven unforgettable days, you will cross-section the geographical, historical, and cultural backbone of the ancient Khmer Empire. This epic loop takes you far beyond the standard tourist tracks, carving a path through Cambodia's most legendary historical and ancient capitals. Your journey begins in the mystical province of Siem Reap, where you will glide along hidden jungle single-tracks connecting the colossal towers of the Angkor Archaeological Park. From there, you will pedal east through traditional villages to explore the spectacular, raw ruins of Beng Mealea, completely swallowed by the jungle, and cruise the flooded mangrove forests of the Tonle Sap Lake at Kampong Phluk.

As you head deeper into the northern frontier, the landscape grows wild and dramatic. You will navigate the quiet forest paths to uncover the mysterious tenth-century step-pyramid of Koh Ker, and pedal through the historic borderlands of Anlong Veng, the final stronghold of the Khmer Rouge. Your physical endurance will culminate in the ultimate cycling milestone: a heart-pumping, high-altitude climb up the winding mountain roads of the sacred Preah Vihear Temple, rising five hundred and twenty-five meters over the Thailand-Cambodia border on a sheer cliff. Finally, you will conquer remote wilderness tracks to find the magnificent Grand Preah Khan of Kampong Svay, Cambodia’s most isolated and mysterious ancient jungle capital, before rolling back to Siem Reap in triumph.

This expedition is built on a foundation of professional support, physical challenge, and absolute comfort. Backed by our expert local cycling guides, a dedicated air-conditioned support vehicle carrying your luggage and standing ready with unlimited cold water and fresh tropical fruits, and premium mountain bikes, you will discover the perfect harmony between active endurance and authentic cultural discovery. Step into the saddle. Challenge your personal limits, and let the Kingdom of Wonder transform you forever.
