Tour Plan
-
Route: Luang Prabang – Mekong Crossing – Sayaboury Town
-
Cycling Distance: ~115 km
-
Road Condition: Paved mountain roads with significant elevation changes.
Your journey begins at 8:00 AM as we depart the golden spires of Luang Prabang and head west. We cross the mighty Mekong by bridge, transitioning to the right bank into a region that feels worlds apart. Today is a test of endurance and spirit, covering 115km of mountainous terrain. Sayaboury is a province steeped in history, having been a colony of Siam (Thailand) until 1904. As you pedal, you are entering the "Elephant Heart of Laos." Approximately 75% of the nation’s domesticated elephants live here. We will enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by nature before reaching the non-touristic town of Sayaboury. Tonight, we rest in a quiet local guesthouse, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of a town that remains untouched by mass tourism.
Laos is a hidden gem for cycling, and Golden Cycling Tours ensured we saw its most stunning locations. The tour was well-paced, the guides were friendly and professional, and the bikes were top quality. An outstanding experience from start to finish!
