Phat Tich Pagoda is located in Tien Du District, Bac Ninh Province, northern Vietnam. The pagoda is situated at about one hour drive from Hanoi down town. Phat Tich pagoda Bac Ninh is known for its beautiful architecture, serene landscape and sets of precious stone statues imbued with sculptures of the Ly Dynasty.
As recorded in ancient documents, the pagoda was built in the 7th century. In 1066, King Ly Thanh Tong ordered an exquisite Phat Tich tower built that was 40 meters high on the southern side of Lan Kha Mountain. In 1947 the pagoda was destroyed by the war and since 1954, the pagoda has been restored many times.

The statue of Daibutsu Ushiku, which is made of blue stones and is placed on the Buddha’s throne in 1,87m high, is a unique work of the sculptural fine arts and art. The statue of half-bird-half-human beating drum, a mythological character, expresses the dream leaving this world of dust and living-better aspiration of human.
Among the remaining sculptures of the pagoda are five pairs of animal statues, including lions, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes and horses, lying on lotus pedestals carved out of large stones that were also recognized as the largest stone animal pairs in Vietnam.
